From context to solution

Jakala manages promotional campaigns and loyalty programs for major players in large-scale retail distribution and the national retail sector. These activities involve the handling and distribution of a very high number of product references, mainly sourced from the Far East, intended for reward campaigns and large-scale commercial initiatives.

The items cover a wide range of categories, from plush toys to home goods, small appliances, and sports products, with extensive distribution across Italy and abroad. Over the years, campaigns have been managed for retailers such as Selex, Esselunga and Conad, as well as special projects related to the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

The complexity of the project lies in the simultaneous management of:

  • high inbound volumes via international containers
  • a very large number of different product references
  • scheduled shipments to thousands of retail points
  • the need to ensure product availability throughout the entire duration of the campaigns
  • structured returns management at the end of operations

It was necessary to build a logistics system capable of maintaining operational control, traceability, and flexibility, adapting to campaigns with variable timelines and volumes.

The logistics process was structured starting from container receiving management: each item is identified through barcode and dedicated handling units, then stored and made immediately traceable within the system.

Shipments are planned according to progressive replenishment schedules, ensuring retail stores continuous product availability until the end of the campaigns.

To optimize nationwide distribution, a logistics hub was activated at the Colleferro warehouse, dedicated to managing flows destined for Central and Southern Italy. This configuration allowed the client to reduce transportation costs and improve delivery efficiency.

Over time, the service has evolved to also include:

  • returns management from retail stores
  • receipt and quality control of returned goods
  • reconditioning of unsold products
  • repackaging and relabeling activities before final delivery
  • classification of item conditions for potential future reuse

This approach allows the client to maintain full visibility over the product lifecycle even after the distribution phase.
